Dorothy May Brown, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan on Sunday, February 11th , 2018.
She was born Feb 5th, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Whenry and Maude Estelle Bell. After losing her mother at a young age, Dorothy was raised by her grandmother, whom she loved dearly. She attended Highland Park High School and Junior College. She married Mason L. Brown in 1950 and raised six children.
Dorothy’s charitable efforts include involvement with St. Owen Church, Meals on Wheels, The American Cancer Society, and several other organizations.
In 1970, Dorothy’s husband, Mason, passed. In 1973, she married Joseph P. Bedirian. Over the next 20 years they raised their family together. Prior to Joseph’s passing, his salon was grown with the assistance of Dorothy. After Joseph passed in 1995, Dorothy continued to run the salon along with family members.
Her greatest joy in life was being involved in the lives of her family and friends. She was an amazing cook, enjoyed hosting/entertaining, and loved her pool and the beach.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers John, Leo, and her sister Kathleen. She is survived by her children, Mason II (Nancy Jo), Kathy (Mark), Karen (Jay), Nancy, Sue (Steve), Mary (Mike), 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, cousin Leonard (Claire) and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was kind, gentle, generous, dignified, patriotic, and a beautiful person inside and out.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Owen Church, 6869 Franklin Rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301.
