Gary Charles Miller

Gary Charles Miller, 79, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at his residence in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Born in Many, Louisiana, Gary called many places home including France, Texas, California, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Hawaii, Italy, Qatar, Colombia, and most recently, Michigan.

Gary served in the Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He later became an employee of the federal government with focus on budget and finance. Gary worked and lived in various areas of the world. It was in Saudi Arabia that he met his dear wife of 34 and a half years, Annabelle (nee Balaoing) who he would soon marry in Bickenbach, Germany. Together, they worked, travelled and lived. After Gary retired 2003, they settled down in a home in Hawaii. After 3 years, however, they moved to Naples, Italy, Doha, Qatar, Bogota, Colombia and eventually moved back to their home in Hawaii in 2015. While Hawaii was their home, they continued to travel the world with frequent visits to Gary’s son Jefferson in Texas.

In July 2022, Gary and Annabelle left their piece of paradise to settle in Michigan, to be surrounded by multiple family members. However, their plans were blind-sided after Gary was shortly diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer. Gary valiantly faced the diagnosis as he always does any challenge…with optimism, strength and faith until the very end as he wasn’t going to pass on without a fight. He passed with his son, Jefferson of Texas and his dear Annabelle at his bedside, the two most important people in his life.

He is preceded in death by his father, Howard Miller, mother Lela Belle Miller and sibling, Harold David Miller. He is survived by his dear wife Annabelle, his loving son Jefferson of Schertz, TX and his brother, Glynne of California, many nieces, nephews and many in-laws who thought so highly of him.

A chapel service will be held on January 28, 2023 at 10:00 am, at the Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan. Guests are welcome to arrive beginning at 9:45 am.  Services will be live-streamed on the Gramer Funeral Home Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gramerfuneralhomes/ [1]
