Geraldine Louise Mack

Geraldine Louise Mack , 87, of Chesterfield, Michigan died after a short illness on Nov. 10, 2017 at the home of her son in Lake Orion.

Born Sept. 10, 1930 in Detroit, she graduated from River Rouge High School and later received a Library Associates degree from Macomb Community College.

She and her husband, Robert Edward Mack, recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary having married on Sept. 4, 1948. The last 62 years were spent in New Baltimore, Michigan. Gerry was active in numerous community organizations for which she was honored as Citizen of the Year. A founding member of the New Baltimore Historical Society, she was instrumental in the creation of the Pacific House Museum. Gerry worked at the New Baltimore Public Library for many years and was a long time member of the New Baltimore Progressive Literary Club. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church.

Until recently, Gerry moved at the speed of light. She was an avid gardener, hunter (and seller) of antiques, talented seamstress and legendary baker and cook. Known for years as the “pie lady” of the Harvest Fair, she baked dozens of pies, many reserved in advance. She decorated her 1890’s house for all the holidays, was a voracious reader and viewer of British mysteries and historical dramas.

She is survived by her husband, Robert and their five children, She is also survived by her sister , seven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and her gigantic cat, Billy.
