Janice Elaine Morrison

Janice E. Morrison, 68, of Royal Oak, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at 10:35 pm,Wednesday, October 18, 2017 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a beloved mother to her daughters, Kelly and Andrea, and a loving “GG” to her seven grandchildren, Ethan, Connor, Samantha (Cupcake), Charlotte, Esther, Andrew, and Abigail.
Janice spent her entire life helping others. She devoted 30 plus years as a skilled and compassionate respiratory therapist who will be remembered for her infectious energy and spunk. However, the role she cherished most in life was in her family. She devoted her life to her daughters and their families. GG adored her grand babies and loved to spoil them all.
Janice was the most energetic and selfless woman you will ever know. Always kind and generous, she lit up every room she walked into and made sure everyone around her knew how much she loved them. Our hearts are broken but she is forever in our hearts.
Janice wouldn’t want us to be sad, it wasn’t her style. She didn’t want a funeral with tears and mourning. Instead she would like us to have a party in her memory and come together with love and companionship. Please join her daughters as they host a party for their mom on, November 4. 2017, at Farina’s in Berkley, MI. from 5-9 pm. In lieu of flowers or cards, please use those funds to have an adventure with the ones you love most. This is what Janice would want.

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

Condolence Messages

  1. I am so very sorry for your loss. When I first met Janice I thought to myself what a ray of sunshine! Her laughter was infectious. She was a great RT who was beloved by her patients. She was also a wonderful preceptor to so many of my students. She is mourned by many but will definitely live on in our hearts.

Words cannot express the sadness I experienced when I heard this news! I was actually at work doing what Janice taught me to do!!! She was an amazing person, preceptor, mentor and later co-worker. One memory I have of Janice was walking through the hospital and everyone knew who she was!! She knew them, about their families and they knew the same. She had an infectious smile and always had a pocket of candy! R.I.P. Janice, you will define missed! Prayers to your family and especially those Grandkids that I know you adored more than anything.

  6. I’m so sorry that Janice left this world so young. She was a mentor to me at Beaumont Hospital and St. Joseph Mercy Oakland. She had a way of making everyone smile and just feel happy to be in her presence. Loved her infectious laugh & silliness. She’ll be missed.

  7. Peggy Stack. Beaumont Hospital

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a work companion for 29 years. Because of her respiratory and radiology worked hand in hand. I am grateful to have shared life together

  8. I am so sorry for the loss of Janice. What a great person! She was a Dorchester girl, one of over a hundred that lived on the street. I married a Dorchester guy (Barry Saunders), so I know how tight a group it was. Janice and I go back to junior high (Keller). Oh, the adventures we had! We even got into trouble once…only once, we learned that lesson. At one of the early meetings for the 50th Class reunion, we sat in the car and talked about all we had done..the same memories were equally as strong for us both.
Janice and I also saw each other a lot when I worked at Beaumont and the last time we talked was last spring, she was picking up one of those grandbabies at Churchill and I was rushing in for volunteer work. She will always have a special place in my heart. Her smile, her laughter, her wicked sense of humor and most of all her love for her family will be the my strongest remembrance of Janice. Fondly, Edie (Hoemke) Saunders

  9. Janice was always full of joy. Could brighten up a room with her smile.
She make you feel better when you shared your thoughts with her.
So sad and sorry about your loss and mine
