Susan Carol Blinke

Susan Carol Blinke, a devoted wife, wonderful mom and grammy, passed away with her family holding her hands and surrounding her with peace and love on May 28th, 2024 at the blessed age of 80 years.

Born, at home, in Detroit on January 30th, 1944 to Shirley and Joe Patti, she was the second oldest of ten siblings. When her father remarried after her mother’s passing, to her stepmother Jane Parker, her family was extended with step siblings.

Susan grew up in Detroit and graduated from Osborn High School in 1962. After meeting Larry, her soon to be husband, she worked at the Blinke Family Market in Hamtramck. Later, she would move on to work in the automotive world, at Fitzsimons Manufacturing for many years, eventually retiring from there.

As a devoted couple, Sue and Larry would write love notes to each other often, and once married continued writing little notes leaving them by their morning coffee cups every day throughout all of their 52 married years.

Susan loved to read extensively. She had an unofficial book cook club with her cousin and family. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and country dancing. Sue and Larry loved all animals, but especially their feline fur babies. Most important to her was spending time with her family and friends. She was fond of the almost daily phone calls with her sisters. Susan was an excellent cook and loved to host parties and BBQ’s. When she did go out for dinner, she especially enjoyed a good pizza and salad from Buddy’s Pizza and either a Long Island Ice Tea, Cosmo or her favorite, Diet Vernors.

Susan dedicated her life to her family with resilience and unwavering faith. Always there with a warm embrace and listening ear. She will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, dedication, strength, humor and above all, her unconditional love.

Susan is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Blinke. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughter and son-in-law Beth (Steve) Zaccardelli and granddaughter Ava.
Family and friends, know she loved you all immensely and she is now free.

We will celebrate this beautiful woman on Friday, June 14th, 2024, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Gramer Funeral Home, 705 N Main St in Clawson.

I know she will be missed. I’m so sorry, Beth, Steve and Ava. Growing up with her, 3 doors away , i remember how sweet and kind she was. Later years I saw her thru Patti family gathering, because I’ve stayed close to her brother Jerry and wife Linda Williamson. She grew up next door and we’ve remained best friends our whole life. My family sends loving messages and prays for your strength and healing at this difficult time 😇👼🙏
