Tricia Lynette Richter

With heavy hearts, we share our loss of Tricia “Trish” Lynette Richter; who passed away peacefully on December 1st 2018 at the age of 50, while at home surrounded by her family after her battle with cancer.

Tricia was born on November 16th, 1968 in Columbus Ohio, to Floyd Wayne Gates and Janet Rosemarie (Honaker) Gates. As a teenager, she met the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Kirk Richter, in Fort Myers, Florida and they married on April 5th, 1987. They settled in the metro-Detroit area of Michigan and briefly lived in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio as well. They celebrated 31 years of marriage in April 2018. Together, they raised two wonderful sons – Justin and Tyler.

Tricia was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved NASCAR, Ohio State Buckeyes football, cooking, music, her family, and seeing her son Justin and husband Kirk play music in local rock bands. She was their biggest fan. She was a confidant to her son Tyler and they shared a special bond together that words cannot express. She was his best friend. She was also loved by all her sons’ friends and was known as “Mom” or “Ma” to many of them growing up. Tricia was the “cool mom” and always fed them, made them feel at home, and sometimes even bandaged them up when the shenanigans would get out of hand. She loved them all greatly.

She was a lover of life, laughter, friends, and family. A warrior who had beaten cancer twice in her lifetime. And a beautiful soul with a big heart, who was loved by many. She will be dearly missed. Her final wishes were to be cremated and remain with her husband and her two sons, so they may celebrate her life and forever remain a family.

Tricia is preceded in death by Floyd Wayne Gates (father), Janet Rosemarie Gates (mother), Tamara “Tammy” Lynn Wilson, (sister), Paul E. Wilson (brother-in-law), Twila “Maw-Maw Sis” Shaw (aunt), Justin Honaker (grandfather) and Gladys Honaker (grandmother)

Survived by and left to cherish her memories are Tricia’s husband Kirk Richter, Justin Richter (son), Tyler Richter (son), Madonna (Richter) Putch (mother-in-law), Alaina Putch (sister-in-law), Ryan Putch (brother-in-law), Lynn Richter (aunt), Terry “Butch” Gates (brother), Diane Gates (sister-in-law), Douglas Gates (nephew), Daniel Gates (nephew), Mishelle Wilson (niece), Alexis Carter (great niece), Sabrina Wilson (niece), Andrew Adams (great nephew) and many other family members.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 15th, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, located at 5987 Williams Lake Rd. Waterford Twp, MI 48329. The service starts at 2:00pm and is open to friends and family. Flower deliveries are welcome during the weekdays prior to the service but no lillies, please, due to allergies.

An online fundraiser is currently available on Facebook as well. Donations are welcome and still needed towards her final arrangements and for her family. You can securely donate at the web address below. Donations in lieu of flowers are also welcome.
