Paulette McDonald Voorhies

Paulette McDonald Voorhies, age 76 of Sterling Heights MI, passed away Tuesday, February 15th, 2022, at Beaumont Hospital in Troy.

A lifelong woman of faith, Paulette grew up attending church in her backyard, when Pilgrim Holiness was built in her childhood. A lifelong lover of music, she played piano for church services and throughout her life. She attended many Bible studies throughout her life. Her relationship with Jesus was very important to her and brought great comfort and joy to her life.

Paulette enjoyed photography, gardening, music, puzzles and her family. She was especially close with her youngest granddaughter Sawyer. They had a special bond.

Paulette worked as a Unit Clerk in the Coronary Care Unit at McLaren Regional Medical Center for twenty years. She also co-founded the Genesee County chapter of Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and served as President for many years.

Paulette was preceded in death by her parents Thel and Robbie McDonald as well as her former husband of 38 years Jerry Voorhies.
She is survived by her daughters Emily ( Curtis ) Berlin, Lisa ( John ) Schmitt, and Kelly ( Don ) Wilkinson and her 9 grandchildren and 2 grandpuppies, and many close family friends.

Paulette will be dearly missed. Her love of laughter, music, family, art and faith will be with us always.

A memorial dinner will be planned at a later date.
