Ray Ericson, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather died on October 17, 2017 at the age of 73. Ray was born in Kewanee, IL on January 2, 1944, son of Richard Lyle Ericson and Dorothea (Miner) Ericson. In 1946 the family moved to Arizona. Ray spent his childhood in Holbrook, AZ, moving to Galva, IL in 1956.
Ray is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marian (Hanchett) Ericson and four beloved children, Paige Bartlett and husband Kit, Farmington Hills, MI, Todd Ericson and wife Carolyn, Sugar Land, TX, Shawn Ericson and wife Paola, Dade City, FL, and Brady Ericson and wife Tiffany, Bloomfield Hills, MI. Ray was preceded in death by is brother, Jim, survived by his sister-in-law, Margie Ericson and sisters Cheryl Holevoet and husband John, Galva, IL, and Sharon Laermans, Moline, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray lived a rich life, leaving lasting memories for everyone that knew him. He was known for a dry sense of humor and a patience that few possess. It was infrequent to find him without a crossword puzzle fully worked out around him. Ray was blessed with 15 grandchildren and one great granddaughter and frequently travelled to visit and vacation with all of them.
Many of Ray’s Swedish ancestors lived in and around Bishop Hill, IL. A memorial fund is being established in his name with the:
